Ehuru, commonly known as calabash nutmeg with similarities to and related to nutmeg, is used mostly as a savory spice in many West African and West Central African local dishes and spice mixes. Calabash nutmeg are the dried seeds of Monodora myristica dunal tropical rainforest tree that is native to West Africa. It can be found growing and is used in cooking from Liberia to Nigeria and into Cameroon.
